Stay warm, and hold your tools with pride!
The Smoktite system is a refractory lining installed pneumatically by fireplace and chimney professionals. The system is composed of a spray gun, air canister mortar containment system, special fireplace high heat mortar, and a compressor. It’s a low invasive installation process that does not require dismantling of the fireplace or any of it’s fixed components. The system is well designed, and comes with extensions and angles to broadcast the material as needed.
The work site is set up for installation.
All debris and obstructions are removed from the fireplace prior to installation.
The smoke chamber block work was never lined.
The exposed block work has cracks, and the flue tile has openess around it.
After the install the smoke chamber is carefully inspected/evaluated to see if another application is needed. Typically 1 to 2 coats are needed, but more may be required to seal large gaps.
