For those of you who aren’t familiar with masonry heat, here is a little overview;
A masonry heater is a site-built or site-assembled, solid-fueled heating device constructed mainly of masonry materials in which the heat from intermittent fires burned rapidly in its firebox is stored in its massive structure for slow release to the building. It has an interior construction consisting of a firebox and heat exchange channels built from refractory components. I personally equate the masonry heater to be a combination of a wood burning stove, and fireplace. You can have the look of a masonry fireplace with the benefit of exceeded EPA efficiency standards. These appliances are the future of clean, efficient wood burning.
The great thing about masonry heaters is their ability to burn solid fuel(wood) quickly and efficiently, while offering an amazing heat dwell time. The Masonry Heater Association also combines bake ovens, rocket stoves and other genres of masonry built solid fuel burning appliances.
